Today in the computer lab, we will work on making our own M & M - make one to resemble your own personality.
Become and M&M

When you are finished, you may work on your science powerpoint presentation or explore one of Mrs. Robinson's websites.

Have fun!

Dodgen New Student "Camp"

The principal of Dodgen Middle School, James Snell, has just posted on his blog some information about summer orientation. I highly recommend it. My daughter loved it and felt more comfortable on the first day of 6th grade because she knew more about the school. Here is a link to the blog and where you can download the registration form.

Field Day

Tuesday the 13th is our field day. I want to remind students to wear tennis shoes and sun screen. We will be in the sun all day long. Today is very windy and cool, bringing a jacket would be a good idea too. Students may carry a water bottle with them while they travel between events.
Please look for an update on our Chattanooga trip. Students will get them today and take them home in their back packs.

I am sending home work from earlier in the school year. It will be in the Thursday folders this week.
Thank you.

Chattanooga is ON!!!

Thank you all so much for contributing the extra money today. The trip is on and we are so excited about that. A note will be coming home this week about what to bring and not to bring on the trip.

Thank you to Mr. Pollock, Mr. Dudziak, Mrs. Hicks, and Mrs. Malice for agreeing to chaperone the trip for us.

Chattanooga Field Trip Update

A note was sent home today with each student asking for an additional $7.00 to cover the cost of the Chattanooga field trip. The note explains about the significant deficit in our account for this trip. If we don't receive the $7.00 by tomorrow, we will make a decision to cancel the trip.
Some students have asked if they could pay more to help out. Yes, that would be fine and very generous.
I'd like to say that our class has fully paid for the trip. I am grateful to have each of you as parents and/or students this year.

Thank you for understanding about this matter and hopefully the trip will go on!

PTA and Class News

Thank you for the wonderful snacks that you sent in for CRCT week. The class loved having the treats. We have also had a little extra recess to help get the "wiggles" out after testing. I am looking for one more chaperone for the trip to Chattanooga...if interested, please let me know soon.

Stranger Danger Workshop and Last PTA General Membership Meeting of the Year!!
Join us this Thursday, May 1 at 6:30pm in the East Side cafeteria for a brief, but important PTA meeting as we amend the budget and install our new Executive Board officers. Then, Marietta Martial Arts will host a “Stranger Danger” session that will be beneficial to both students and parents. See you there!

CRCT Testing Continues This Week
While the 1st and 2nd grades are finished with CRCT, please keep in mind that testing for the upper grades will continue this week. Please make sure your child is well-rested and at school on time this week.

Attention 5th grade parents! A Word from Ms. Khatoon
A permission slip went home earlier explaining the upcoming Human Growth and Development program for the fifth grade students. The permission slips are due Monday, May 5th and the student sessions will be May 8th and 9th. You are welcome to join the counselor and a Health Wise representative on Friday May 2nd at 3:00 in the Media Center to preview the Human Growth and Development materials. Without written permission from you, your child can not participate. So, please come by May 2nd to preview the materials and don’t forget to send the permission slips in by Monday May 5th.

Field Days – May 12 and 13
The PE Team is extremely excited about Field Day this year and needs your help. Field Day would not work without parent volunteers to help run the stations. Each class is responsible for providing 6 volunteers on May 12 for K – 2 and May 13 for 3 - 5. Keep in mind that one person can sign up for more than one time slot. Please see your room representative for the schedule of events.

Also, we are looking for parent volunteers to assist with grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch each day from 9:00-1:00 pm. Each day will need about 5-6 volunteers. To volunteer on Monday, May 12, please contact Anne Lane at getanne@bellsouth.net or 770-331-1636. Tuesday’s head chef is Bill Hill and he can be reached at 770-565-2976. Take a long lunch and have fun with your kids on Field Day!

Envelopes for CRCT results and report cards need to be sent to your child’s teacher. Kindergarten parents please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Postage rate increase on May 12 so please be sure you put 84¢ postage on the envelope. Students in first through fifth grades should have two self-addressed, stamped envelopes. One with 42¢ postage for CRCT results and 84¢ postage for report cards (if your child has a different last name please be sure you include the child’s name on the envelope). Please have envelopes to your child’s teacher by Monday, May 19.
Please remember that students are not allowed to carry anything home on the last day of school. Please do not send book bags with your child on the last day of school (May 23).
