Used Sneakers - the New Green
Sneakers don't fit anymore? Worn out? Don't throw them away! Bring them
(any size, any brand, WITH laces) to school next time you're coming to
visit (or better yet, have your child bring them in to get them
involved) and place them in the "Used Sneaker Bin" in the hallway
outside the Media Center! Environmental Education Committee volunteers
empty the bin weekly and deliver them to Big Peach Running Company in
Marietta for you! Ultimately, the shoes go to folks that need them in
Third World countries... beats the landfill! OR, you can bring the
shoes to Big Peach Running Co. yourself and receive 5% off any
purchase. The store is owned by East Side parents, Steve and Amy
DeMoss, and is located in the Goldberg's Bagels shopping center on
Johnson Ferry Rd.
Juice Pouches - the Newer Green
A new way to be green - Recycle your Capri Sun pouches!! It's SO
easy - collect your pouches, cut the tops, rinse and then bring them to
school. There will be a recycling bin outside the Media Center or
Recycle Friday volunteers will collect them in the cafeteria.
